Join the Louisiana Department of Healths Office of Public Health as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) serving Region 1 (New Orleans area). In this dynamic role youll deliver advanced primary and preventive care to individuals families and communities across clinics in Delgado Metairie and Marrero. Possession of a current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or a temporary permit.
NOTE:
The temporary APRN permit allows an APRN applicant to work in a limited capacity for up to 120 days while awaiting review for full APRN licensure by the nursing board. An APRN applicant cannot medically diagnose or medically manage patients until they are licensed and have prescriptive authority. If the APRN license is not received within the 120-day period and the permit expires the employee must be removed from the position.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments physical exams and diagnostic evaluations; determine diagnoses prescribe medications and develop individualized care plans.
- Conduct womens health exams (e.g. Pap smears breast and pelvic exams) and insert long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) as requested by patients.
- Implement monitor and adjust treatment plans to meet patients evolving health needs ensuring quality and continuity of care.
- Work closely with physicians nurses and other health professionals to coordinate and deliver effective patient-centered care.
- Educate and counsel patients families and community members on health conditions treatment plans and preventive care practices.
- Offer advanced professional expertise and technical guidance to staff; participate in quality assurance activities and help develop practice standards to enhance care delivery.
- Create and manage accurate medical records and reports in accordance with legal ethical and departmental standards.
