Work Schedule: (2) 12-hour shifts from 7pm to 7am. Part-time hours with full-time benefit package!

The practice of nursing by a registered nurse shall mean the assumption of responsibility and accountability for those nursing actions which include but are not limited to: assessment planning implementation and evaluation of a nursing diagnosis. Execution of the prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic treatment regiments administering delegating and evaluating nursing activities.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

1. Provides an accurate and thorough assessment of the patient/family to identify human responses to actual or potential health conditions.

  • Performs patient care assessments and reassessments based on patient condition and established policy/procedure.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively utilize the nursing process when providing assessment for all individuals.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess and reassess pain and pain management techniques utilized.
  • Documents all assessment and reassessments in an accurate legible and timely manner.

2. Formulation of a nursing diagnosis to identify and plan for the needs of an individual family or group.

  • Utilizes history and assessment information to identify patient problems and set goals.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to revise a plan of care as indicated by patients response to treatment.
  • Utilizes assessment data and formulates a plan for discharge needs.

3. Implementation of a nursing treatment regimen to provide for the selection performance and management of proper nursing practices.

  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standards of care and patients age.
  • Performs direct patient care utilizing professional nursing skills and judgment according to physicians and other licensed practitioners orders.
  • Teaches health care practices initiates and participates in patient and family education programs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their condition.
  • Documentation of nursing care meets current standards and policies.

4. Evaluation of the plan of care an treatment for all patients under his/her care to promote resolution of patient problems and positive patient outcomes.

  • Evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness and makes adjustments as needed to meet patient goals.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of learning and discharge teaching needs.

5. Coordinates and supervises patient care to provide for the management of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

  • Communicates pertinent information regarding patient care appropriately and clearly.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures and patient rounds.
  • Utilizes effective clinical delegation skills demonstrating accountability for the scope of practice of the individual being delegated to and evaluation of the outcome of delegation.
  • Consults with co-workers and other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patients needs and discharge plan.

6. Safety initiative - Complies with Methodist Fremont Health safety policies and procedures and regulatory requirements e.g. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Joint Commission (JCAHO) Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

  • Performs job duties in a manner consistent with organization and departmental safety policies and procedures. C
  • Completes departmental safety requirements I.e. blitz departmental in-services etc. on an annual basis.

7. For Home Health: Understand and implement Medicare requirements in care of the home care patients to meet eligibility documentation and compliance.

  • Patient care is planned and provided based on a comprehensive assessment of patient needs.
  • Utilizes the role of primary nurse to effectively manage patient care from admission to discharge in an appropriate and cost effective manner.
  • Documentation is completed in a timely manner and supports the care provided to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes data from the Oasis comprehensive assessment to plan patient cares and monitors outcomes of the care.

8. For Home Health: Coordinates care of home care patients to provide for Continuity of Cares.

  • Coordinates care of home care patients to provide for Continuity of Cares.
  • Works as an integral part of the Hospice Interdisciplinary team to meet the ongoing needs of hospice patients.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited Diploma School of Nursing/College of Nursing with an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.


License/Certifications

  • Required:
    • Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License valid compact multistate license or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
    • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire required within 3 months of hire.
  • Preferred:
    • 4th LDRP/Peds: Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certificate () of Added Qualification from NCC within 1 year of eligibility.
    • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).


Experience

  • Two to five years previous inpatient nursing experience preferred.
