Job Summary

1. Accredited High School Diploma or USA equivalency

2. Three (3) years of work experience in four different crafts; One (1) year of experience in carpentry flooring ceiling repair and painting. Masonry/plaster/ceramic tile experience is desired

3. Demonstrated general knowledge of various types of interior and exterior paints solvents primers stains acrylics lacquers epoxies and other industry coatings

4. Demonstrated general knowledge and the ability to use paint spray equipment power equipment or hand application

5. Must pass physical in order to wear half face negative pressure respirator

6. Must be clean-shaven at all times - Only if certified to wear respirator

7. Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision

8. Demonstrated organizational communication and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position

9. Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management including work orders and material procurement

10. Demonstrated ability to complete work orders accurately

11. Maintain a valid Texas Drivers License and driving record that meets District standards

12. Must pass a Dallas ISD random drug test

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing walking pushing and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying; some stooping bending and kneeling; limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.

1. Perform a variety of repairs and installations to school facilities for various crafts including carpentry flooring wall ceiling and painting.

2. Identify and resolve various maintenance repair problems related to multi-skills craft.

3. Measure cut and shape various materials to fit repairing numerous multi skill maintenance issues.

4. Have general knowledge and the ability to safely construct and use scaffolding extension ladders and hydraulic lift buckets for exterior painting requests of multi-level facilities.

5. Employee may be required to assist painting craftspeople with special projects as needed.

6. Ability to work the evening shift or any other schedule to accommodate the Districts needs.

7. Maintain inventory of assigned tools equipment and vehicles as assigned daily inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools equipment and vehicle as required.

8. Follow District safety guidelines using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as need for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned at all times.

9. Maintain accurate records for labor materials work order completion project orders manufactures technical data sheets material safety data sheets and other Maintenance records.

10. Report observed maintenance problems that require action of other Maintenance departments.

11. Communicate effectively with principals department heads district staff and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate correct repair and complete each job or project.

12. Employee may be required to respond to after hour/emergency callouts be placed on an emergency call out rotation and flex work hours to accommodate job completions.

13. Comply with District policies and procedures.

14. Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

15. All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification as appropriate.
