The Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technician is a qualified professional with in-depth knowledge of biology chemistry and various medical equipment. The Med Tech collects and organizes samples for examination and works with medical professionals to ensure results are correct.
JOB DUTIES
- Collect and prepare blood urine and tissue samples for analysis
- Examine collected samples and identify any cell abnormalities
- Maintain laboratory inventory levels and if necessary place orders for new supplies
- Prepare detailed reports about your test results and findings
- Document and review tested data
- Ensure all tissues samples are prepared for examination
- Collaborate with pathologist and other medical specialists to determine correct diagnosis if cell abnormalities are discovered
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
TheMedical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technician assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills required
- Strong attention to detail vigilance and meticulous care on the job required
- Computer skills including MSOffice Outlook Meditech preferred
- Ability to work well in a team or independently preferred
- Advanced knowledge of biology and chemistry
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates Degree of Medical Laboratory Technician or Bachelors Degree of Medical Technology required
- Medical Technician Certificate required
- 2 years experience as a Medical Technician preferred
