The research assistant will conduct a range of technical duties including conducting laboratory tests and experiments to gather data for research purposes. Responsibilities include performing experiments analyzing documenting and drawing preliminary conclusions from experimental results. The research assistant collaborates with the principal investigator to design and perform experiments with a limited supervision to accommodate specific equipment needs perform data analyses and reporting.Job Description:
Job Duties
Conduct research laboratory tests experiments and determinations to obtain data for research purposes.
Compile analyze document and draw tentative conclusions from experimental results.
Confer with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments.
Modify existing laboratory procedures and techniques as needed to meet the needs of the equipment or experimental requirements.
Review scientific literature including journals abstracts and laboratory manuals to gather information relevant to research projects.
Perform routine laboratory procedures and support daily operations including inventory management safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks in accordance with institutional and funding agency guidelines.
Maintain lab supplies reagents and chemicals for daily research procedures.
Perform specimen processing biobanking and shipment coordination.
Participate in collaborative studies with other research laboratories at KUMC.
Perform a range of laboratory techniques including PCR Western blotting ELISA primary cell isolation and general tissue culture.

Required Qualifications
Work Experience:
Four years of relevant experience. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
One year of lab experience (can be gained through relevant coursework and studies).
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Public Health Epidemiology or Clinical Research.
Work Experience: Data based and outcomes research.

At the University of Kansas Medical Center a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
