Augusta Health is recruiting Laundry Technicians who speak English as a second language to participate in our English Language Learner program (ELL).
About the ELL Program:
Our ELL program will increase your confidence help you to feel more comfortable speaking English and ensure you can communicate important information at work.
The ELL program lasts 10 weeks and you will work on day shift. You will work four days a week and receive two hours of paid ELL classroom instruction per day.
Your total scheduled hours will be 32 per week.
After completing the program you may be reassigned to a different shift and you may be able to increase your hours up to 40 per week and be eligible for the generous Augusta Health benefits plan.
An interpreter will be available to support you in the interview and hiring process.

Laundry Techs play a vital role in ensuring clean linens and supplies are available throughout the hospital by completing the following duties:
- Collecting sorting and processing soiled linens
- Operating commercial washers dryers and folding equipment
- Inspecting linens for qualify and wear
- Delivering clean linens to hospital units

Job Summary
The Laundry Tech plays a critical role in supporting Augusta Healths mission and advancing departmental goals through measurable performance indicators and service excellence. This position contributes to a collaborative patient-centered environment and helps drive outcomes aligned with organizational priorities.
This individual performs a variety of diversified laundry duties in the hospital laundry to include weigh fold stock and delivery of laundry items to the various departments in the facility. Takes linen inventory as needed.
Essential Job Duties
- Collect soiled linen from linen chutes and/or hampers and transport soiled linen to laundry in soiled linen carts.
- Separate and weigh soiled linens.
- Load and unload laundry from dryers.
- Check linen for stains and tears. Linen is removed from circulation and repaired or discarded.
- Count linen and add linen to carts as required.
- Load and transport linen carts to designated areas.
- Clean laundry area and equipment as needed.
- Put linen orders together for off-site locations.
- Operate all equipment and machinery as required.
Required Qualifications
- Education: None
- Licensure/Certification: None
- Experience: None
- Drivers License: N/A
- Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements

- Licensure/Certification: None
- Experience: None
- Prior experience in a hospital healthcare system or related service-oriented environment
- Familiarity with Augusta Healths systems workflows or organizational culture is a plus

- Ability to understand laundry procedures
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions completely and accurately
- Must be competent on all equipment used in the Laundry
