Anticipated Opening
Title of Position: Technician I
Non-Unit (Bilingual Preferred)
Work Year: Twelve Months
Salary: $40000 to $42000 based on experience

or Line of Authority: Director of Technology
Summary Statement
The Technician I position as an entry level technician is responsible for basic hardware and software troubleshooting in a cross-platform and bilingual environment. As a first-line-of-defense employee they will be providing entry level technical support via ticket system remote screen management and in person. They will support their fellow technicians and Technology administration as designated.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Windows MacOS iOS and Chrome Operating System.
- Knowledge of computer hardware components and repair and replacement procedures.
- Familiarity with networks and network communications.
- Attention to detail and ability to anticipate technical problems.
- Ability to work with users and colleagues in group and team environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of means. ie: Face-to-Face telephone email virtual mtgs.
- Ability to lift and carry weights that can exceed 50 pounds.
- Ability to work on a ladder and use basic power tools.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Responsible for providing positive social interactions with staff and parents.
- Consistently provide excellent and positive customer interactions.
- Provide desktop management and support.
- Install and manage a variety of equipment in school buildings.
- Maintain and deploy computer images as supplied by senior tech staff.
- Maintain and disseminate passwords and user ids if staff accounts expire or access is lost
- Deploy/upgrade basic hardware and software for the platforms that are used in HPS District including but not limited to: Microsoft Google/Chrome Apple and other tech-related items
- Monitor and act upon assigned and non assigned help-desk tickets to diagnose and fix end-user problems.
- Assist with managing and troubleshooting warranty and non warranty diagnosis on site and offsite repair and packaging of desktop hardware used in District.
- Troubleshoot diagnosis and basic repair of all hardware used in the District.
- Assist in installing configuring and maintaining all software applications on computer networks.
- Maintain records on computer networks including hardware and software information for inventory control and upgrade purposes.
- Update current knowledge with technological advances and industry trends.
- Deploy maintain test and troubleshoot ethernet connections in the district.
- Monitor district security check in systems for proper operations and report any issues to senior tech staff.
- Collect and distribute equipment that needs to be repaired and returned.
- Start classes to be certified in equipment repair that HPS uses and maintains.
- Responsible for creating shared documentation for all assigned tasks and projects.
- Adhere to the Technology Department Core Values.
- Be responsible for performing all duties as assigned by Senior Tech staff and Technology Leadership and following all policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
