DescriptionThe Department is rapidly growing and consists of divisions of Anatomic Clinical Translational and Experimental Pathology. The Pathology Department with its primary and affiliated faculty serve multiple institutions including LeBonheur Childrens Hospital Regional One Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Hospital. There is an active residency program in which the residents have an opportunity to partake in clinical service handling almost 200000 cases.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be engaged in the academic and educational missions of the institution participate in the education of medical students residents and fellows and may supervisemedical students residents and fellows.
They will be employed through University Clinical Health and spend the majority of time at Veterans Administration Hospital and Regional One Health (ROH) an acute care training site for UTHSC with over 300 staffed beds and associated primary care clinics. ROH houses many specialized services including a burn center a level 1 trauma center complex obstetrics neonatology cancer and an HIV/AIDS special care unit. Together with clinical volume received from the different organizations the pathologist will join a team at ROH handling 17000 surgical cases.
QualificationsThe successful candidate will be at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor; at least 13 years experience is preferred.
- Candidate must be Board-eligible/Board Certified
- Committed to providing quality clinical care student/resident teaching and research
- Completed an accredited residency program in surgical pathology
- Successful candidates will have a MD or equivalent degree
