WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT
7.00hrs per day/190 days per year

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Warehouse Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation of the school districts supply chain and inventory management. This position involves the accurate and timely receipt storage and distribution of educational materials equipment and supplies to various schools within the district. The Warehouse Assistant will collaborate with school staff vendors and other district personnel to ensure the seamless flow of goods contributing to the overall success of educational programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with inventory management software and systems.
- Proficiency and certification in using warehouse equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects minimum 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
- Valid drivers license.
- Previous experience in warehousing inventory management or related field preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide excellent customer service to school personnel and district staff.
- Execute procurement tasks with precision and adhere to good business practices when placing orders for the school district ensuring cost-effectiveness timely delivery and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Work seamlessly with other warehouse and MLSD staff to promote a cooperative and efficient work environment ensuring smooth operations effective communication and timely completion of tasks.
- Receive and check-in orders from food service vendors.
- Inspect food deliveries for accuracy quality and completeness.
- Document and report any discrepancies or damage.
- Compile food orders from the kitchens and submit to the Director of Food Services.
- Prepare and package food orders for delivery.
- Safely store items in an organized and efficient manner within the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.
- Implement proper storage techniques to prevent damage or deterioration of stored items.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies for dry stored items.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transitions and any issues that may arise.
- Assemble office and custodial orders for next business day and restock shelves.
- Report stock issues to Warehouse Lead.
- Incorporate returned items back into warehouse supply.
- Clean warehouse as needed ie pallets removed from refrigerator freezer and dry good storage areas sweep and scrub concrete.
- During summer deliver food to summer school kitchen and feeding programs.
- Assist other departments/schools in receiving supplies during summer.
- Bi-weekly pick up of USPS mail for schools during summer
- Assume the responsibilities of Warehouse Lead in their absence.
- Rearrange priorities when there is a shortage of drivers and assume the deliveries.
- Other duties as assigned.
