We are in the business of delivering exceptional storytelling. We produce award-winning scripted and unscripted Original Series such as Boyhood Anna and SNL Korea. We believe Sports can also be elevated by creative storytelling. Play is now an authoritative destination for Sports broadcasting K-League La Liga Bundesliga F1 NFL and other leading leagues and tournaments. To ensure that we deliver all content seamlessly we invest in Engineering Product and Design. Coupang Play is available on all mobile devices tablets PC Smart TV Apple TV and Android TV. Our teams keep optimizing how Customers discover and stream both VOD and Live content. That includes investments in frontend backend and infrastructural developments. We also embrace Machine Learning to refine our CX.

Role Overview

The StaffBackend Engineerin the Customer Experience (CX) teamisone of the key roles in the Coupang Play product organization. This role works closely with product designer product manager mobile and quality engineering team to collaboratively produce awesomecustomerexperience.You will design and develop services that serve millions of customersevery day.You will leadsomekey projectswith new API development for our key strategic growth areas such as Live Sports streaming experience.Experience in buildinga highly availableand low latency distributed service is essential.

What You Will Do

• Design and own the architecture roadmapofourLiveSportsand DiscoverAPIs
• Develop support and improve key backend systems of the Coupang Play with high availability and scalability
• Formulate scalableand low-latencytechnical solutions to satisfy product requirements from Product Owner
• Mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team;establishbest practices in code quality system performance and operational excellence
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals and compliance requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree and 7 years of experience in server application and system engineering using modern languages
• Deepexpertisein low-latency high-throughput systems performance profiling and cost/performance trade-offs
• Expert with one or more of the following programming languages for backend engineering: Go Java JavaScript
• Proficient with modern cloud computing such as AWS or GCP
• Strong leadership in project planning execution code/design reviews and mentoring engineers
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Production experience with streaming anditsdata systems
• Ability to work with iOS and Android developers to properly integrate and troubleshoot issues with mobile app to API integration
• Ability to speak and write in English in a professional environment
