Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of low-income or vulnerable families and individuals in Southeastern Massachusetts. The communities we serve including Brockton New Bedford Plymouth the South Shore South Coast Cape Cod Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket have some of the highest poverty rates and largest wealth gaps in Massachusetts. For nearly 50 years we have addressed the complex needs of people who are disadvantaged by poverty and discrimination and have fallen through the cracks of mainstream systems of care. We provide a wide array of trauma-informed health care emergency services and support.


POSITION: Communications and Outreach Advocate

HOURS: Full time (35 hours/week) some evenings and weekends required

PROGRAM: A New Day

SALARY: $27.10/hr

LOCATION: Brockton

BENEFITS: Medical dental holiday paid earned leave 403b etc.

DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical and Emergency Services the Outreach and Communications Advocates primary responsibility will be to develop and expand community partnerships that elevate program goals and client resources across A New Days catchment area. They will also provide advocacy and case management to families and/or individuals as needed based on program capacity.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:


Program and Community Engagement

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external service providers to ensure clients have access to comprehensive coordinated services.
  • Represent the program at community events meetings and collaborations to strengthen partnerships and increase client access to resources.
  • Facilitate community trainings prevention initiatives and awareness events as needed.
  • Expand volunteer engagement through the development of volunteer recruitment training and appreciation activities.

Outreach and Communications

  • Support the A New Day team in creating outreach materials including flyers group content and program event materials.
  • Develop and manage social media content to promote A New Day programs and increase community visibility.

Client Services (as needed based on program capacity)

  • Provide individual crisis support intervention and advocacy to survivors of sexual violence.
  • Conduct assessments to identify client needs and barriers including financial legal mental health substance use employment health care and housing.
  • Connect clients with resources and services to address identified barriers (e.g. transportation CORI mitigation credit repair financial assistance).
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date client files statistical data and monthly reports.

Administrative and Program Support

  • Accurately document and track meetings interactions and client information in the EmpowerDB database.
  • Provide hotline and medical advocacy coverage as needed.
  • Participate in individual supervision with the Director of Clinical and Emergency Services.
  • Attend all required trainings and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to all agency policies procedures and program guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical and Emergency Services.
Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of 1 year experience working within the field of interpersonal violence; a bachelors degree in social work public health gender studies or similar field. Commensurate years of experience in the field permissible substitute for education. Excellent written verbal communication and presentation/training skills; ability to assimilate information and communicate with various populations; Creativity and flexibility in handling evolving projects and managing multiple priorities. Commitment to a social justice perspective as well as an understanding of the linkages between sexual and domestic violence and other forms of oppression.

Ability to maintain flexible schedule in accordance with program needs; i.e. evening and weekend hours will be required as needed. Travel is required.

A valid drivers license registration auto insurance and a safe drivers record

Excellent Writing and Presentation Skills are required for this position. Applicants will be required to submit a writing sample and prepare and present a short presentation during the interview process.
