Provide direct management of professional Childrens Services staff who investigate allegations of abuse and/or neglect of children and who provide supervision of children foster care placement. Assign all new CPS and Foster Care cases and review cases to ensure compliance with agency policies procedures childrens placement agency rules and federal laws. Monitor compliance with time and attendance expectations and follow progressive discipline guidelines when indicated. Provide childrens service training to staff and implement new CPS and Foster Care Programs and Policies.

Education
Possession of a bachelors or masters degree with a major in one of the following human services areas: social work sociology psychology forensic psychology interdisciplinary studies in social science education community development law enforcement behavioral science gerontology special education education of the emotionally disturbed education of the gifted family ecology community services family studies family and/or child development counseling psychology criminal justice human services or in a human services-related counseling major.
OR
Possession of a bachelors degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following human services areas: social work sociology psychology forensic psychology interdisciplinary studies in social science education community development law enforcement behavioral science gerontology special education education of the emotionally disturbed education of the gifted family ecology community services family studies family and/or child development counseling psychology criminal justice human services or in a human services-related counseling major.
Services Program Manager 13 - 14
Two years of experience as a Services Specialist or a Family Independence Specialist in addition to one year of experience in one of the following areas:
Human Resource Developer providing training to services staff in a services program area (e.g. a trainer for the Child Welfare Institute).
Resource Program Analyst or Departmental Analyst work as a services program analyst responsible for activities such as assessing legislation developing program policy or serving as a policy and case consultant (e.g. foster care analyst protective services analyst zone service specialist)
Departmental Analyst work in the Business Service Center (BSC) as a Child Welfare (CW) Analyst providing consultation and support from extensive policy knowledge across child welfare programs; tracking and monitoring performance and improvement efforts.
Departmental Analyst work in the Business Service Center (BSC) as a Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst providing consultation and support from extensive policy knowledge across child welfare programs; tracking and monitoring performance and improvement efforts.
We may use the resulting pool of candidates from this process for any upcoming vacancies at the CFS South Central District office for the next few months should any occur.
The physical location of this position is CFS South Central 1801 E. Canfield Detroit MI 48207. Based on operational needs and within established limits remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.
Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
An applicant hired or promoted to a Services Program Manager position that involves the management of protective services foster care services or adoption services must successfully complete a supervisory training program of at least 40 class hours; and pass a competency-based performance evaluation of that training within three months after assuming the Services Program Manager position.
