Nature of Work

Thefundamental reason this position exists is to supervise the work of City paintcrews. Duties and responsibilities include evaluating customer paintingneeds and preparing to paint planning organizing and directing the work ofpaint crews and performing administrative duties. The Paint Crew Foremanreceives direct supervision from the Maintenance Shop Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

High schooldiploma or G.E.D and four (4) years of painting experience including at leasttwo years of experience at the journeyman level and one-year supervisoryexperience.

NOTE:Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must haveand maintain a valid Alabama drivers license in order to drive city vehicle tooversee and participate in various painting projects of City facilities.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Physicalability to pick up and move paints and equipment weighing at least fiftypounds. Physical ability to climb aladder or scaffold and work to over 100 feet off the ground. Physical ability to walk stoop and standfor several hours at a time. Physicalability to distinguish among various paint colors. Physical ability to work indoors and outdoorsfor long periods of time working in small confined areas and high or lowareas for extended periods of time.Ability to drive city vehicles as needed to pick up paints and suppliesand to travel to City facilities.

Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with theCity of Montgomery Building Maintenance Department.Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and attached supplemental questionnaire.
