The Role
As Product Counsel for Cash App handling credit lending and credit reporting issues youll have a broad range of responsibilities providing legal guidance on lending and credit issues including credit reporting agency issues. Our Primary Product offerings that you would be involved with include: Lending products (such as our buy now pay letter products) Afterpay and credit risk rating/credit rating agency work. As we expand your ideas and contributions will make an immediate and meaningful impact.
You Will
- Provide guidance to product risk design eng customer support and other teams on lending credit and credit reporting agency issues and help build new lending and credit related products.
- Provide actionable legal advice concerning consumer lending laws and consumer lending products Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) Dodd Frank Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
- Develop trusted relationships with partners and stay informed on key product developments.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements affecting your products and services
- Draft terms of use product policies and product disclosures
- Work closely with cross-functional partners (tax compliance accounting and outside counsel) to provide seamless support.
- Cultivate creative ideas and insights into how legal frameworks can support new product developments and customer experiences.
You Have
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in at least one state bar.
- 6 years of combined relevant experience in law firms governmental agencies or in-house legal departments.
- Significant expertise in consumer lending laws and consumer lending products Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) Dodd Frank Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
- Fluency translating legal advice into actionable guidance.
- Ability to quickly adapt and reorient in an evolving regulatory and business environment.
- Familiarity with launching and marketing products and advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space.
- Sound practical business judgment and creativity solving problems.
- Excellent drafting skills.
