NDT TECHNICIAN I/II

Based out of Rocket Labs Headquarters in Long Beach CA the NDT Technician is responsible for Inspecting tube sub-assemblies for the Rutherford & Archimedes engine.

(Please note: this position can be hired at the NDT Technician I or NDT Technician II level)

WHAT YOULL GET TO DO:

  • Perform surface and volumetric NDT inspections
  • Support research and development of system qualification and certification for critical processes
  • Support the development of NDT inspection techniques for complex geometries

YOULL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS AN NDT TECHNICIAN I:

  • 2 years of experience in aviation aerospace or similar industry
  • Basic understanding of Lean principles: 5S Kaizen continuous improvement initiative
  • Knowledge of AMS AWS/ASME ASTM standards
  • Experience in conducting NDT tasks and interpreting inspection results
  • High school diploma or GED

YOULL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A NDT TECHNICIAN II:

  • 5 years of experience in aviation aerospace or similar industry
  • Experience performing NDT testing within the aerospace industry
  • Experience inspecting advanced materials such as high strength aluminum alloys precipitation hardened steels Inconel Monel titanium and Maraging steel (super alloys)
  • Knowledge of NDT Standards such as; AS AMS AWS NAS ASME ASTM
  • High school diploma or GED

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • 8 years of mechanical assembly and/or mechanical fitting experience
  • Certified in American Welding Society (AWS) or Certified in Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Experience in improving capability of NDT processes to eliminate escape of non-conforming products efficiency improvements productivity and flow

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willing to work Monday - Thursday (5:30am - 3:30pm or 3:15pm - 1:45am)
  • Standing for long periods of time climbing up and down ladders bending grasping sitting pulling pushing stooping and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces
  • Must be able to move repetitively bend or twist and use hands to handle control or feel objects tools or controls
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods 8 hours min
  • Must be able to stoop bend crawl and being able to maneuver in tight spaces

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills education and experience.
