The University and Employment Preparation Department (Faculty of Education and Social Work) at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional faculty member (or members) to teach three sections of BIOL 0600 in Winter 2026.
BIOL 0600 - Human Biology
ABE - Provincial: A study of the major principles of human anatomy and physiology from the origin of atoms and elements through to the structure and function of molecules cells tissues organs and body systems. Introduces the basic principles of Genetics and Evolution. Laboratory work involves organizing observations drawing conclusions and effective communication. Prerequisite: CHEM 0500 Required Lab: BIOL 0600L.
Masters degree in a relevant field (required)
At least one degree in science in a relevant field (required)
Teaching Certificate or Instructors Diploma or 5 years teaching experience (required)
Experience teaching students whose educational social and economic backgrounds are diverse and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging (required)
Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching (required)
Experience teaching in a laboratory setting (required)
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE science courses (preferred)
Skills in building intercultural understanding empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) (preferred)
Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) (preferred)
Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) (preferred)
