Job Opening: Data Systems Engineer (ELK/Linux/Kafka)

Location: Alpharetta GA or Menlo Park CA (Hybrid 3 days onsite/week)
Duration: 12 Months (Long-Term Contract)

Core Skills Required

Were seeking a hands-on Data Systems Engineer with strong expertise in:

Linux Systems: Deep understanding of Linux environments; ability to deploy debug and optimize applications.
Application Development:
- Primary: Python
- Secondary: Ruby or Shell scripting
- Must be able to run and troubleshoot applications in Linux monitor CPU/memory usage and resolve performance issues.
ELK Stack: Proven experience with Elasticsearch Logstash and Kibana.
Kafka Pipelines: Building scalable data pipelines integrating Kafka and ELK.
Soft Skills: Strong communicator collaborative team player and eager learner with a get-your-hands-dirty attitude.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with Fling
Snowflake database knowledge
Apache Spark for data processing
Solid background in data analysis
ELK Certification (especially in observability and analytics)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Develop and maintain data pipelines using Kafka ELK and Hycon.
Operate in a large-scale cluster environment ensuring scalability and reliability.
Monitor and support hundreds of deployed jobs on Linux servers.
Troubleshoot and debug pipeline issues ensuring smooth operations for internal customers.
Understand how data is stored and indexed within ELK.
Provide hands-on support and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Additional Notes

This role blends Data Engineering and Application Development - candidates must be strong in both.
The team operates entirely within Linux so platform fluency is essential.
Responsibilities span development deployment and support - not just coding.
