SALARY RANGE: $24.8066 / Hour

WORK LOCATION: MOC

TYPE OF POSITION: Regular Full-Time

DAYS WORKED: Monday-Friday

HOURS WORKED: 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

JOB DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Using excellent customer services skills establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees officials and all members of the general public.

Promotes and follows safe practices procedures and safety rules and participates in scheduled Safety Meetings.

Demonstrates honesty integrity confidentiality dependability and flexibility along with initiative and motivation to organize and complete tasks and meet deadlines.

Performs duties and assignments and conducts self in such a manner as to reflect credit on the Utility.

Digs holes by hand and assists operator using a shovel by cleaning dirt weeds brush and spoil from the edges of the hole.

Using a tamp and shovel refills holes when setting poles and anchors.

Helps in the installation of underground conduit and conductors by assisting in gluing conduit together and placing conduit in trench.

Responsible for opening and closing trenches using a shovel as directed.

Keeps job sites clean and orderly by picking up and disposing of trash materials packaging and scrap wire.

Loads and transports materials by physically moving materials from cubicle storage area to truck.

Using a winch moves poles from storage areas onto trucks for transporting to job site.

Using a shovel rake or hoe cleans substation sites of weeds and trash; may be required to apply chemical weed killers.

Assists linemen or apprentice linemen in performing their duties by: (1) anticipating the linemens needs for material or equipment and (2) providing the material or equipment.

May be required to drive trucks to and from job sites. Using a truck with winch assists in transporting poles and materials pulls wire setting transformers and poles.

Works under direct supervision of Working Foreman and/or a Journeyman Linemen on the Service Crew in the Electrical Line Department.

Must keep truck clean organized and fueled.

Performs all duties in compliance with safety and security rules standard operating procedures and labor agreement terms.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

This position is subject to the Citys Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program which includes: pre-employment testing post-accident testing random testing reasonable suspicion testing return to duty testing and follow-up testing.

A pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test is required for this position.

Extensive background checks required.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid drivers license required with acceptable driving record for past three years.

Ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License within six (6) month after hire.

Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the city.

Ability to work with others and follow directions from supervisor.

Must have a telephone at residence and be willing to be on 24 hour call; must be able to be at the Municipal Operations Center within thirty minutes after receiving a call.

Once requirements are met the individual in this position will be expected to progress into the position of a Class A Helper.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 to 65 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 to 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
