  • JOB SUMMARY:
    This is a professional position to meet the instructional goals of the school and school system by delivering instructional programs effectively to ensure student achievement.

    SALARY RANGE: Placement on the Queen Annes County Teachers Salary Schedule commensurate with certification experience and preparation. This is a full-time benefited 10-month position.

    JOB SUMMARY:
    Provide services to students with disabilities in compliance with federal and state regulations. The successful candidate will be a general Special Education teacher and managing a caseload of students.

    Qualifications:
    1. Hold or be eligible for Maryland Professional Educator Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education 1-8 6Adult or K-12.
    2. Knowledgeable of the IEP process and special education regulations desired
    3. Has good interpersonal communication skills.
    4. Well-organized
    5. Ability to work well with colleagues students and parents.
    Responsibilities:
    1. Co-teaches in general education classes.
    2. With the general education teacher consistently shares responsibilities and collaboratively implements evidenced-based co-teaching practices through seamless planning delivery and assessment of instruction.
    3. Incorporates modifications accommodations Universal Design for Learning and differentiation to address diverse learning needs in lesson planning and content delivery.
    4. Manages a caseload of special education students. Including but not limited to:
      1. Completes academic testing and report writing for initial and triennial evaluations.
      2. Preparing and monitoring the implementation of the Individualized Education Plan
      3. Provides parents with progress reports on IEP goals & objectives as indicated in the IEPi.e. at least as often as nondisabled peers
      4. Maintains accurate and complete student records collect data and prepare reports on children and activities as required by laws and district policies/procedures.
      5. Ensuring compliance with timelines (IEPs triennial reviews evaluations etc.)
    5. Serves as a member on the IEP team.
    6. Collaborates with administrators other teachers school assistants related service providers families and others as necessary.
    7. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
    8. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
    2. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
    3. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals andin harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
    4. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitation of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
    5. Strives to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
    6. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
    7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
    8. Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
    9. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
    10. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
    11. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for support staff and volunteer(s).
    12. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
    13. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned.
