Description

The Oglethorpe University Biology Program is seeking adjunct instructors to teach the introductory courses Biological Inquiry (BIO-110) and/or Biostatistics (BIO-111) during the Spring 2026 semester. Each section enrolls no more than 24 students and all courses are delivered in person. Successful applicants must be interested in progressive student-centered models of biology instruction. Applicants will be expected to foster an inclusive learning environment by engaging in and promoting diverse teaching learning and mentoring communities. Adjunct faculty will be mentored and supported by Biology Program faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching and fostering a collaborative community. Faculty will work together to ensure consistency across the curriculum.

Teaching assignments will be based on instructor experience areas of expertise and availability. Multiple sections of both courses are available for assignment. Sections of Biological Inquiry meet for a total of 6 hours per week; this includes a 3-hour laboratory period. Sections of Biostatistics meet for a total of 3 hours per week. The semester runs from January 12th to April 27th with final exams in the following week. Final grades for the semester are due by Wednesday May 13th. Qualifications

M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology or related field. Candidates who are ABD (all but dissertation) will also be considered.

Compensation:
$3300/semester for Biostatistics

$4950/semester for Biological Inquiry (combined lecture and lab)
