Job Duties

The Alexandria Health District is searching for a passionate mission-driven nurse to step into leadership and help continue to make a lasting difference in the community we serve. You will have the unique opportunity to work with a diverse multidisciplinary team serving a diverse population to promote and educate on reproductive services womens health immunizations and prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases in the clinic and at outreach opportunities in the community.A few key responsibilities supervise and ensure required training of a team of nurses health care technicians disease interventional specialists and clerical staff. Direct patient care may be needed to support clinical area and during outreach. Managing grants developing policies and procedures. Establish community liaisons in support of resources and collaborative work. Respond to public health emergencies.

Coordinates the delivery of program services agency wide and provides nursing consultation in support of the program. Develop policies and procedures perform research manage grants provide guidance coordinates resource establish liaisons in support of service delivery and assess the impact of new policies procedures regulations. Work is primarily focused more on long range than intermediate issues. Staff carry out their responsibilities following broad parameters set forth by grants program goals and objectives with supervisory involvement limited to actions which affect other organizational units and/or programs or for politically sensitive issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Relevant experience and strong knowledge of public health principles and practices; infectious diseases treatment and prevention measures; public health nursing and patient/family case management; public health surveillance systems; quality assurance techniques; and program development management and evaluation processes
Strong oral and written communication clinical analytical and computer skills
Experience and ability to provide leadership and mentorship to professional staff and colleagues; to maintain effective professional working relationships with clients coworkers and others; to work independently and as part of a team; to supervise staff and coordinate the work of others
Experience and ability to analyze data on conditions of public health significance; prepare written reports and educational materials; develop and implement training activities; write and manage grants; manage budgets and monitor spending; provide technical assistance; and interpret and apply policies and procedures

Education:

Licensure as an RN in Virginia

Additional Considerations

Significant public health experience and public health program management preferred
