More about the role
As a Data Scientist you will build and maintain the predictive models that support GoLemons core operations - including forecasting demand optimising inventory improving availability informing sourcing decisions and identifying emerging consumer and category trends.
You will work across the business - with Inventory Sourcing Category Fulfilment Operations Finance Product and Engineering - to design data-driven solutions and ensure GoLemon operates with accuracy reliability and intelligence.
This is a practical hands-on impact-driven role for someone who loves numbers modelling and solving operational problems.
Key responsibilities
Predictive modelling & forecasting
You will:
- Build maintain and improve forecasting models for demand stock category performance and operational patterns.
- Retrain tune and optimise models periodically to maintain accuracy.
- Monitor model performance accuracy drift and data quality issues.
- Document model assumptions methodology and decision logic.
Data analysis & problem solving
You will:
- Work with MongoDB to extract and clean semi-structured data (nested JSON dynamic schemas).
- Design pipelines that convert raw data into analysis- and model-ready formats.
- Perform root-cause analyses on stock-outs demand spikes supplier issues fulfilment delays and operational anomalies.
- Identify optimisation opportunities across sourcing category inventory and fulfilment.
Dashboards tools & automation
You will:
- Build dashboards for forecasting availability risk waste prediction pricing insights and operational KPIs.
- Help democratise data across the company through intuitive tools and reporting.
Model integration & collaboration
You will:
- Work with Product and Engineering to integrate model outputs into internal systems (IMS and sourcing workflows).
- Communicate clearly with business teams to interpret insights and recommendations.
Requirements
Your experience & what it takes to succeed
Youre a great fit if you match most of the following:
- 3-5 years of experience in data science predictive modelling analytics engineering or similar roles.
- Strong Python skills (Pandas NumPy Scikit-learn PyTorch/TensorFlow).
- Experience querying schema-less or NoSQL databases - such as MongoDB.
- Ability to design transformations from NoSQL to modelling-ready tabular datasets.
- Experience building tuning and deploying predictive models (even simple ones).
- Good understanding of statistics forecasting techniques and model evaluation.
- Ability to break down complex problems logically and propose structured solutions.
- Strong communication skills - simplifying data for non-technical teams.
- High ownership reliability and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving data and operations.
