Description:

The Pharmacist II will prepare and dispense parenteral enteral and oral medications monitor patient drug therapies and provide drug information. The Pharmacist II will also direct support personnel.

What a pharmacist II will do:

• Reviews prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies procedures and protocols.

• Ensures safe appropriate cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies procedures and protocols.

• Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.

• Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians as needed.

• Provides drug information and counseling to patients families and other healthcare professionals.

• Participate in the training education precepting and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.

• Provides work direction to pharmacy support personnel verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.

What a pharmacist II will need:

• One year of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy preferer

• Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy.

• Five-year Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

• Advanced training in at least one specialty clinical area preferred.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification may be required (at discretion of manager).
