Job Summary

The Business Analyst will support the Comptroller of Marylands Unclaimed Property Division and Field Enforcement Division by reviewing improving and documenting business processes. This position works closely with State staff to analyze current operations identify issues recommend improvements and help implement updated tools and workflows.

This is a full-time 10-month contract (Extendable for up to 2 Years) Hybrid work type (telework-eligible with some onsite work in Annapolis and Baltimore). The role requires handling confidential information and passing a background check.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and document existing business processes.
  • Create clear training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify gaps or problems in internal controls and recommend solutions.
  • Work with technical staff to improve tools and workflows in applications such as Excel SharePoint PowerBI ServiceNow KAPS and Revenue Premier.
  • Redesign processes to improve efficiency accuracy and employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with quality assurance testing and support systems moving to new applications.
  • Split time evenly between both divisions and complete at least two major projects per division.
  • For each project deliver:
  • A project proposal with measurable goals
  • A detailed SOP
  • A close-out report with results and recommendations


Requirements

Required Qualifications

3 years of experience analyzing or documenting business processes or improving workflows.

Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field.

A current certification such as CBAP PMI-PBA CAPM or another relevant credential.


Preferred Qualifications

3 years of project management experience or responsibility for completing complex tasks.
