Aquatics Assistant
POSITION PURPOSE: The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for the health safety and welfare of the students and guests using the swimming pool. The major responsibility is to observe swimmers and enforce regulations in the guarding of life and the prevention of accidents at the Aquatics Center. The employee will also help with Lifeguard scheduling pool setup and light maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents.
- Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning.
- Administers First Aid as needed
- Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards
- Enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Follows emergency action plans and procedures established in the event of an emergency.
- Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas.
- Inspects facilities for cleanliness and completes general pool set up cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Checks in guests and inspects equipment
- Provides general information on pool operation to the public
- Maintains an acceptable appearance and attitude at all times
- Pool Secretarial/supervision duties
- Manages pool laundry and equipment usage
- Helps set up and maintain lifeguard schedule and rotations
- Attends all training and staff meetings
- Lifeguarding majority during PE activities
REQUIREMENTS:Valid Lifeguard Certification (Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED)
QUATLITIES DESIRED:
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from patrons or fellow staff
WORK CALENDAR: Aquatics Center is open 50 weeks per year hours will depend on scheduling and availability.
SALARY: $17.00-$17.20 rate is dependent upon education and/or experience. (Schedule #21-4.2)
