Job Summary and Responsibilities

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge skills abilities and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas listed below. Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values patient/customer focus taking ownership health care knowledge teamwork clinical performance improvement service excellence decision making and critical thinking and patient safety.

Job Requirements

Required Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilitiesand Training
  • Must meet the requirements of the year long programincluding preparation work and class attendance
  • Must remain in a full-time position for the entirety ofthe year long program
  • Must be able to work and train on either night or day shiftsincluding holidays
  • Must agree to terms and conditions of the program

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing;
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
  • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
  • Current BLS certification with the American Heart Association. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
