Job Summary:
The Missouri Southern State University Department of Nursing is seeking a Full-time Nursing Advisor to provide support for students in the educational process for declared nursing majors. The nursing academic advisor collaborates with nursing faculty to advise students and represents the nursing programs at recruitment university events and public events.

Essential Duties:
Understands degree and catalog requirements specific to MSSU and the nursing program.
Perform and interpret degree audits.
Is available to conduct guided tours of the nursing program and facilities.
Is available to attend local recruitment fairs and events.
Provides a safe confidential space in which students can express their needs concerns and interests.
Attentive listening skills.
Is knowledgeable of and observes FERPA responsibilities.
Is knowledgeable of MSSU student support services.
Respect students as adults.
Supports students in knowledge-based decisions.
Assists pre-nursing students with enrollment
Maintains currency in advising best practices within the university and academic community.
Maintains coordination with an administrative assistant database of enrolled and non-enrolled pre-nursing students.
Education Experience and Licenses
A bachelors degree is required and previous academic advising experience is preferred. Willing to train the right person.
