The City of Abbotsfords Planning & Development Services department is seeking a self-motivated professional to join their dynamic team as a full time Plan Reviewer. This is technical work of a regulatory nature involving the review processing and issuance of building permit applications for Part 9 buildings including townhouses commercial industrial and agricultural buildings. You will review plans for general compliance with the BC Building Code National Farm Building Code and with City bylaws. You will have considerable independence and exercise judgement in setting out submission requirements and in interpreting compliance with codes and bylaws.
Your communication and relationship building skills will assist you in providing information interpretation and assistance to home owners contractors and the general public on bylaw requirements related regulations and codes. Knowledge of City Building Zoning Sign Development DCC Business License Sound Fire and other bylaws the Canadian Farm Building Code NFPA standards and Part 9 of the B.C. Building code along with your sound knowledge of the preparation and use of Plans and Specifications related to building construction will make you an asset to the team.

This position is unionized CUPE Local 774 and the hourly rate of pay is from $40.09 to $57.36 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
The City of Abbotsford has committed to systematically promoting building officials as they obtain higher levels of certification. The systematic promotion of building officials means when you successfully achieve Building Level 2 Certification from the Building Officials Association of BC (BOABC) you will be promoted to the position of Plan Reviewer 2. When you have successfully obtained your Building Level 3 Certification and Registered Building Official (RBO) designation you will be promoted in position to Building Official 3.
