MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate event setups across 10 venue spaces including conference rooms classrooms suites ballrooms and auditoriums with precision in furniture layout AV equipment staging décor and signage.
Perform full teardown and cleanup post-event including trash removal basic floor cleaning restroom checks and restoring spaces to original configuration.
Transport event materials marketing supplies and equipment to off-site and partner venues; set up outdoor gear such as tents tables chairs signage and sandbags.
Maintain organized inventory of event supplies and equipment; track usage inspect condition and ensure timely return of borrowed or rented items.
Operate forklifts golf carts and utility vehicles to move equipment; manage overlapping events across campus locations and adapt to last-minute changes especially for paid and VIP events.
Provide welcoming solution-focused support to the campus community; collaborate with event coordinators facilities custodial teams and external partners; review event orders and communicate updates to supervisor.
Offer backup support to mailroom shipping/receiving maintenance custodial project management and shuttle services during slower event periods.
Complete assigned work orders document event completion report maintenance needs or damages and uphold safety standards throughout all event activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid drivers license with clean driving record for campus and off-site transportation.
Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently; heavier items with assistance.
Ability to move safely on stairs ramps and ladders.
Must be able to travel across Indianapolis campus locations using College vehicles.
Flexible schedule with availability for evenings and weekends
Proficient with hand/power tools and experienced in furniture and equipment setup.
Capable of performing physical tasks including overhead activities bending twisting and working in varied indoor/outdoor conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education/training welcomed.
Practical understanding of inventory management and equipment assessment.
Strong teamwork reliability and customer service skills.
Preferred experience in event setup warehouse transportation or logistics.
Preferred experience in academic or state organizations.
Preferred experience in facilities maintenance and equipment installation.
Detail-oriented with ability to execute precise event instructions especially for paid wedding and VIP events.
Skilled in space planning and interpreting setup diagrams.
Ability to adapt and collaborate in a team environment.
Forklift certification is a plus but not required.

Role Clarity: Events Logistics vs. General Custodial
This role owns the full event lifecycle including post-event cleanup. You are responsible for:
Event setup execution teardown and cleanup
Restoring event spaces to ready-for-use condition
Trash removal basic floor cleaning and space organization
Evening/weekend event support across campus
Other duties as assigned
Note: This is not a general custodial position. Routine building maintenance and daily cleaning are handled by custodial staff.

Flexible hours: Based on event calendar (evenings/weekends)
Weekly planning: Event schedule posted every Wednesday for the following week
Peak times: Increased hours during graduations recruitment season Black Expo job fairs weddings and major sponsored events
Holidays: 9 paid holidays observed Adjustments: Last-minute event changes may require schedule flexibility Typical week: 23 evening or weekend events requiring setup and teardown
