Job Summary

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and capable Senior Registrar in Emergency Medicine to join a high-performing Emergency Department in a central London teaching hospital.
Youll be working in a fast-paced supportive environment that sees a diverse range of acute presentations from high-acuity trauma to complex medical and surgical emergencies.

As part of a well-structured middle-grade rota you will play a key role in maintaining safe efficient flow through majors minors and resus areas while supporting junior doctors and ensuring timely senior review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the assessment and management of acutely unwell patients presenting to the Emergency Department.

  • Work flexibly across majors minors resus and rapid assessment zones.

  • Support and supervise junior clinicians (FY/CT levels) and Advanced Care Practitioners.

  • Participate in clinical decision-making patient flow coordination and referrals to specialty teams.

  • Contribute to departmental teaching audit and quality improvement projects.

  • Ensure safe handover and effective communication across shifts.

  • Uphold Trust values around patient safety dignity and clinical excellence.

Essential:

  • Full GMC registration with a current licence to practise.

  • Minimum 612 months NHS experience in Emergency Medicine at Registrar/Middle Grade level.

  • Competent in managing resuscitation cases acute medical and trauma patients.

  • ALS / ATLS / APLS certification (current or recently expired).

  • Strong communication and leadership skills under pressure.

Desirable:

  • MRCP / MRCEM (or equivalent)
