CLASS TITLE: FINANCIAL ANALYST I
BASIC FUNCTION:
Perform functions and analyses necessary to designated financial area. Responsible for the preparation and financial accounting of assigned programs of the District.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Maintain the financial records for assigned programs and activities making appropriate journal and general ledger entries and preparing appropriate journal and general ledger entries and preparing appropriate accounting reports.
- Prepare various finance reports for assigned activity.
- Assist with external and internal audits as assigned; assist Finance Officer in estimating portions of the overall District budget.
- Prepare financial analysis of revenues and expenditures and compare to other school districts in State and out of the state as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Accounting budgeting and auditing principles practices and procedures.
- Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques. Working knowledge in excel.
- Preparation of comprehensive accounting reports.
- Modern office practices procedures and equipment.
- Applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws.
- Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.
- Operation of a computer including financial accounting system and spreadsheets.
- District organization operations policies and objectives.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Correct English usage grammar spelling punctuation and vocabulary.
ABILITY TO:
- Plan organize and participate in financial and statistical record keeping activities.
- Cross train with other finance office personnel.
- Maintain and audit fiscal records and accounts in a school district.
- Assist the finance officer in assuring compliance with applicable District policies procedures and governmental regulations.
- Assist the finance officer in applying applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws.
- Balance accounts and reconcile bank statements as assigned.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Meet schedules and time lines.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Plan and organize work.
- Coordinate and monitor clerical accounting assignments and activities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and two years of accounting experience.
