WBD Sports encompasses a wide range of sports brands and channels reaching over 130 million people monthly in more than 200 markets and 20 languages.
Key brands include Bleacher Report Eurosport and TNT Sports. WBD Sports offers a comprehensive coverage of major sports events like the Olympics in Europe tennis Grand Slams and road cycling Grand Tours (e.g. Tour de France) across various platforms including TV and streaming services like Max and Discovery.
Additionally it manages and promotes 55 global events annually. TNT Sports UK features exclusive live sports such as the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Staff Software Engineer you will be a key member of the WBD Sports team responsible for building and maintaining systems supporting Warner Bros. Discoverys family of Sports products/brands including Eurosport NCAA/MML and Bleacher Report. You will work closely with product/project managers users development staff and senior leadership to implement designs develop and deploy fan-facing solutions.
Own and drive key initiatives supporting the developer workflow from PR to release
Innovate and deliver technical solutions
Collaborate with partner engineering teams for inputs support and guidance
Establish best practices set exemplary coding standards and drive operational practices for your team.
Monitor review and coach developer performance; conduct regular performance appraisals and provide disciplinary actions
Document technical solutions and articulate them to both business and technical audiences
Present communicate and advocate engineering perspectives
Participate in Agile ceremonies and show ownership of work throughout the sprint process
Build and maintain highly available low-latency systems that successfully serve sports content to customers in production environments.
Integrate service health monitoring alerting and documentation capabilities in parallel to your software development deliverables.
Coach and mentor engineers up to Senior Software Engineer level providing input to leadership on team development needs and growth opportunities.
What to Bring:
9-12 years of experience as a software developer.
Backend (with 8 years of experience)
GraphQL (with 5 years of experience)
.NET/C# Ecosystem: Understanding of microservices dependency injection testing frameworks
Frontend Technologies: React TypeScript real-time UI updates
Data Storage: SQL databases caching strategies data modeling
DevOps/Infrastructure: CI/CD containerization (Docker) cloud deployment
Individuals who possess these skills would certainly be a bonus:
Sports Data & Analytics: Understanding of sports statistics play-by-play data odds/betting concepts
Real-time Systems: Experience with live data feeds streaming and low-latency processing
Data Pipeline Architecture: Knowledge of ETL processes data transformation and sports data providers (SportRadar etc.)
