Lancashire County Council is seeking three dedicated and skilled Social Workers to join our vibrant Duty and Assessment Teams in East North and Central Lancashire. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking service where your expertise will help shape the lives of children and families across the county.

This is a specialist role within the Duty and Assessment Team responsible for a specialist area of work: completing statutory assessments of need for children with disabilities parent/carer assessments and the review of care packages and direct payment reviews.

About the Role

As a Social Worker in our Duty and Assessment Teams you will:

  • Undertake statutory needs assessments for children with disabilities.
  • Complete parent/carer assessments.
  • Review and monitor direct payment packages and care packages.
  • Manage a varied caseload ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Work collaboratively with families carers and partner agencies to provide the right support at the right time.
  • Participate in the teams duty rota and contribute to the development of social work students.

You will play a key role in safeguarding children promoting their welfare and ensuring their voices are heard throughout the assessment and planning process.

What Were Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker (CQSW DipSW Degree in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • At least 1 year of Children with Disabilities (CWD) experience and demonstrable expertise in completing CWD and parent carer assessments.
  • Strong assessment communication and partnership working skills.
  • Commitment to equality diversity and continuous professional development.
  • Ability to travel across Lancashire (essential car user post).
