Role
STI/PIE is looking for a Young Associate to support PIEs work on Firms Digital Transformation and Technology Diffusion. The selected person will work under the supervision of a Senior Economist leading the Firms Digital Transformation and Technology Diffusion team under the responsibility of the Head of the PIE Division.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to empirical and policy-oriented work on technology adoption and diffusion with a particular focus on the semiconductor ecosystem the diffusion of AI and other digital technologies and the implications of their diffusion for economic outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a distributed-data infrastructure to analyse key firm-related trends in digital technology diffusion and undertake related empirical analysis.
- Support further data development efforts notably in the areas of semiconductors technology adoption and diffusion.
- Support the updating of statistical routines for instance within the OECD Digital Diffuse project and contribute to the roll-out of new waves of data collection.
- Contribute to the production of documents working papers and publications and clear policy messages.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Academic Background
- Undergraduate degree in economics econometrics or another relevant discipline with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and statistics (graduation date between 1 January 2025 and 1 September 2026). Applications from candidates who already hold or are enrolled in a Masters PhD or equivalent degree will not be considered.
- Course work in statistics and microeconomics is required.
- Course work in econometrics and macroeconomics is desirable.
Tools
- Familiarity with standard database and data visualisation software.
- Programming-level knowledge of statistical methods in the area of micro-econometric and productivity analysis and familiarity with associated software tools such as Stata R or Python.
Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to plan and organise work effectively.
- Ability to understand/learn basic firm-level data concepts and to manage databases.
