Job Summary

As an Intermediate Systems Engineer you will collaborate closely with vehicle Prime Contractors to define document and verify requirements and design characteristics for ground combat C5ISR systems including targeting and fire control systems weapon sights and laser range finder control GUIs.

Your responsibilities will span both pre-contractual activities and new product development contributing directly to the performance reliability and integration of mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities and range of activities will vary but in general will include:

Pre-Contractual Activities

  • Analyze and trace customer requirements to GDMS-C product specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare non-recurring engineering (NRE) level-of-effort estimates.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering disciplines and the GDMS-C Engineering Development Framework.
  • Author technical proposal content and documentation.
  • Conduct market and competitive analyses to support make-buy decisions and price-to-win strategies

New Product Development

  • Lead customer interactions and maintain scope alignment.
  • Conduct end-user needs analysis to define system capabilities.
  • Develop and manage system-level requirements.
  • Perform value analysis to support cost-benefit decisions.
  • Ensure design documentation traces accurately to requirements.
  • Contribute to Systems Integration Lab (SIL) design and development.
  • Support verification planning and compliance assessments.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 yrs Defence Industry experience
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS.
  • Basic understanding of Ground Combat vehicle C5ISR systems electronics architectures including:
    • Automotive controls and health & usage monitoring systems.
    • Vehicle Network and InterCom Systems.
    • Situation Awareness sensor Systems.
    • Fire Control Systems
    • Navigation Systems
    • Threat Countermeasures Systems
    • Battle Management Systems

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
