POSITION SUMMARY:
The Athletics Assistant handles clubhouse athletics-related activities during non-standard Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows hours at the Donald W. Reynolds Pennington and Carano facilities. This includes greeting and checking members league participants and leagues supporters in and out and ensuring only authorized persons are accessing facilities. The Athletics Assistant also monitors use of facilities during non-standard BGCTM hours ensuring that all members and leagues are using equipment safely and appropriately. The Athletics Assistant supports the Athletic Coordinator with overseeing athletics leagues.
The Athletics Assistant is responsible for creating a positive and efficient member experience. The Athletics Assistant is also responsible for ensuring the security cleanliness and safe-use of the facilities.
This is a non-supervisory role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for members participants parents and visitors.
- Provide information on leagues and league rules to members participants parents visitors and phone inquiries.
- Check participants in and out.
- Provide effective and positive customer service.
- Assist in maintaining the neatness and cleanliness of clubhouse facilities utilizing equipment including a Zamboni machine.
- Attempt to resolve unsafe or delinquent use of facilities by members.
- Report any unsafe or emergency situations to Athletics Coordinator.
- Work closely with program and administrative staff as needed.
- Function as a referee or coach as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment at all times.
- Attend meetings as directed by Athletics Coordinator or Director.
ALL BGCTM employees have the responsibility to help maintain the safety of our members and staff and ensure an optimal Club experience for all.
Qualifications
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills able to communicate effectively with a diverse population and represent BGCTM professionally to the community.
- Outgoing and engaging with strong ties to the community.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deescalate conflict when necessary.
- Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
CERTIFICATIONS/ASSOCIATIONS:
- Due to insurance requirements must be 21 years of age or older with at least five years of driving history and a clean driving record.
- After hire will receive mandatory paid on-line and in-person training including Safety Skills CPR/First Aid etc.
- After hire will be registered with Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
- Experience playing coaching or referring sports including but not limited to basketball baseball softball or football highly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to perform duties which require walking talking hearing standing sitting and/or bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel run and/or climb.
- Must be able to use hands and arms to enter data into the computer use the telephone and other office equipment.
- Must be able to perform surface and deep cleaning as needed.
- Must be able to lift move manipulate and or hold objects up to 45 pounds. Objects that exceed the 45-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving lifting or manipulating.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
