RN Recovery/PACU Position Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment planning implementation and evaluation.
Meets the physical psychosocial and cultural needs of patients and families.
Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present; may involve contact with patients blood body fluids or specimens.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing walking lifting/moving patients and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids hazardous medications and latex.
Reports to the Director of Surgery.

What were looking for

Applicants should have a current North Carolina state or compact state RN license. Additional requirements include:

1-3 years of PACU RN experience required.
Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
Associates degree in Nursing required. Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred.
BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire.
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
