RN Recovery/PACU Position Summary

  • Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment planning implementation and evaluation.
  • Meets the physical psychosocial and cultural needs of patients and families.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
  • Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present; may involve contact with patients blood body fluids or specimens.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent standing walking lifting/moving patients and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids hazardous medications and latex.
  • Reports to the Director of Surgery.

What were looking for

Applicants should have a current North Carolina state or compact state RN license. Additional requirements include:

  • 1-3 years of PACU RN experience required.
  • Applicants should have a current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).
  • Associates degree in Nursing required. Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred.
  • BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
