WaveLight GmbH in Erlangen is a world leader in the development and production of innovative laser systems for use in eye surgery. WaveLights laser and diagnostic systems enable a very gentle and at the same time highly precise correction of ametropia. Since 2009 WaveLight has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcon Inc. a leading global ophthalmic company.

As a R&D Intern (m/f/d) supporting the R&D Corneal Refractive Team you will be trusted to contribute to clinical data evaluation patient data analysis and the preparation of scientific reports at our Erlangen location.

In this role a typical day will include:

  • Support research activities in clinical data evaluation and patient data analysis with a focus on ophthalmology
  • Summarize and interpret data perform programming tasks and run simulations to support research outcomes
  • Prepare scientific reports and documentation of key findings for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in developing tools and workflows using Python MATLAB Excel or similar platforms
  • Contribute to additional project-related tasks as needed ensuring proactive and collaborative support

WHAT YOULL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Strong interest in medical topics especially ophthalmology
  • Programming skills or willingness to learn Python MATLAB Excel or similar tools
  • Excellent communication skills: near-native proficiency in either German or English and at least intermediate level (B1) in the other language
  • Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Medical/Biomedical Engineering Informatics or Electrical Engineering
  • Proactive committed and cooperative work attitude with openness to learn AI applications in medical research
  • A place of residence close to the Erlangen site (no home office option)
