TITLE: Activity Coordinator
SUPERVISOR: Nursing Director ADH
COMPENSATION: $19-$23/ hourly DOE
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Activity Coordinator manages and plans the therapeutic activities for the General Adult Program and the Dementia Program. This position is responsible for producing a varied program that meets the physical emotional and social needs of the participants enhance self-esteem promote positive emotion and contribute to their overall quality of life.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in Therapeutic Recreation or related field or:
- Bachelors degree in unrelated field with a minimum of 1 year experience working as an Activity Assistant or a similar role or
- Additional experience working within the capacity of Activity Assistant or a similar role may be substituted for the degree requirement
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral); strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Work PowerPoint and Outlook.
- The Activities Coordinator must demonstrate a positive professional appearance and attitude sensitivity to participants issues and feelings and excellent communication skills.
- Sensitive to issues of aging needs of the dementia participant and diverse populations.
- Experience in working with geriatric population or memory impaired clients preferred
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report and work with the Nursing Director to learn and plan the therapeutic activities for the General Adult Program and the Dementia Program
- Create develop plan activities as needed according to the growth of the program.
- Develop and maintain a folder of curriculum geared for instruction for the elderly with arts and crafts for daily engagement.
- Document in the monthly calendar with the use of Activity Connection
- Engage participants and develop appropriate group activities.
- Communicate and schedule therapeutic vendors to lead and engage our participants.
- Lead activities and work with the Program Aides use judgement on the social and emotional needs of the participants.
- Lead and plan field trips
