East Providence School Department is seeking a Long Term Substitute Automotive Technology Instructor GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:Under the direction of the Career and Technical Center Director the Automotive Instructor position will provide a well-organized and highly functioning classroom environment for optimal student learning in the areas of automotive maintenance service and diagnosis. The instructor is responsible for meeting the unique needs of the students assigned to the program and prepares students for careers in automotive profession. The instructor will ensure a safe and productive learning conditions in accordance with NATEF and Rhode Island DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for meeting the needs of the students assigned to the program and prepares students for careers in the automotive profession Ensure safe and productive classroom and shop Follow guidelines and procedures for the prevention elimination or reduction of waste theft or abuse of supplies and/or equipment Operate automotive service equipment and report equipment malfunctions or break downs for repair as required Ensure that federal state and local safety regulations are maintained and followed Perform all other duties as assigned by the school district and supervisor(s).KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to demonstrate proficiency in current skills and knowledge of automotive maintenance service and diagnosis Ability to establish a professional rapport with faculty and studentsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possess or be eligible for RI Vocational Teacher Certification as required by RI Department of Education. Previous teaching experience preferred. Possess or be able to obtain ASE Certification A4 A5 A6 and G1. ASE Master certification (A1-A8 and G1) with Advanced Level (L1) preferred. (5) years of experience in the automotive service industry preferred Experience gained through either secondary or post-secondary training at an accredited institution or apprentice training from work-related experience in the automotive industry preferred
