Summary:
The Service Porter is responsible for performing a variety of duties that are related to the maintenance and service of vehicles. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and /or ability required. A genuine desire to service the customer and a positive attitude and willingness to be a team member are essential to this position.
Typical Hours and Days
This will be a full time position with hours from 7:00am-5:30pm Monday-Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with service write-ups and tagging customer vehicles
Remove vehicle protective coverings and ID tags prior to returning completed vehicle to customer
Inspect the vehicle for stains debris and damages before returning the vehicle to the customer report any damages immediately
Transport customers and dealership personnel as needed in a friendly and efficient manner.
Perform deliveries as required
Keep customer/ employee parking area neat and orderly moving used units as directed and in accordance with dealership display standards.
Return vehicle keys to the cashiers office
Assist parts department in delivery of parts to wholesale customers and delivery of parts from parts counter to appropriate technicians as instructed by parts counter person.
Test batteries of customer vehicles in service drive.
Maintain building and grounds as needed
Assist with shop clean-up and deliveries when needed. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Companys Vision Mission and Values in all interactions with customers
coworkers and suppliers
Adheres to all Dealership policies procedures and Safety standards.
Assist service with charging/maintaining batteries on the lot.
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE SKILLS:
Effective oral communication skills.
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide
Ability to understand and carry out simple one or two step instructions
Must be at least 18 years of age; valid drivers license that meets company standards; will be required to drive company or customer vehicles
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand walk sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to use hands fingers to handle or feel and stoop knee crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to wet/ or humid conditions moving vehicles and other moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles; frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; and occasionally is exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
