A leading aerospace company is seeking a Generalist Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Engineer to serve as the EH&S Site Lead for our Carlstadt manufacturing operation. Reporting with minimal supervision you will develop solutions to technical challenges while driving safety compliance and sustainability initiatives across the facility.

In this role youll leverage your expertise to support manufacturing and testing of pressure vessels while contributing to facility maintenance and company-wide sustainability programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facility & Equipment Maintenance (30%) Plan and coordinate maintenance activities with internal teams suppliers and landlord resources.

  • Occupational & Environmental Safety (25%) Partner with management employees and customers to apply health safety ergonomics construction and environmental best practices in alignment with company standards.

  • Safety & Compliance Programs (15%) Develop direct and assess programs that ensure a safe work environment regulatory compliance contractor safety and sustainability initiatives.

  • Risk Assessment & Problem Solving (15%) Evaluate emerging regulations investigate issues review engineering designs and recommend hazard mitigation measures.

  • Technical Expertise & Guidance (10%) Advise on risk management controls regulatory interpretation and safety solutions.

  • Regulatory Collaboration (5%) Maintain regular contact with regulatory agencies and other Aerojet Rocketdyne EH&S professionals.

This role is ideal for a hands-on EH&S professional who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment and wants to make a meaningful impact on safety compliance and sustainability.


Details:

Required:
Requires a Bachelors degree in a related discipline and minimum of six (6) years experience in environmental health and safety programs. Hazardous waste management experience (current RCRA and DOT training preferred). Experience/knowledge of Environmental regulations (i.e. air water/stormwater waste EPCRA/SARA) including permitting and compliance. Experience with life safety programs (confined space control of hazardous energy hot work working at heights etc.). Full understanding of OSHA General and Construction safety and health standards is required. Excellent interpersonal skills (written & oral) with ability to resolve conflict work with and as a team be flexible and adaptable have above average problem solving and analytical skills and be proactive. Familiar with root cause analysis office and industrial ergonomics industrial hygiene monitoring SDS reviews and interpretations and incident investigation methodology. Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast paced ever-changing work environment. The ability and willingness to occasionally work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Desired:
Must possess mobility to work in a manufacturing environment along with a standard office setting and able to use standard office equipment including a computer. Stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 40 pounds. Will require frequent walking climbing stopping crouching and/or bending in a manufacturing environment; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto (<5%). Will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses safety shoes respiratory protection hearing protection and others as deemed necessary.

Education:

$50-$56.25 per hour DOE
