SUMMARY
SHIELD is a Kansas City based manufacturer who designs and builds products for the worlds best sports and healthcare brands. Our lockers are chosen by the top NBA NFL NCAA teams and our innovative healthcare products help the best doctors and nurses serve their patients in modern clean environments at many of the most nationally recognized health care facilities in the United States.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager the Inventory Control Coordinator has a distinct impact on all phases of Manufacturing from the proper receipt of goods to maintaining accurate inventory controls to preparing material kits for each unique project. The Inventory Control Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that the proper materials are in place and ready to go at the designated and communicated time.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:
- Receive and process all inbound shipments both physically and with various business software. Match packing slip to appropriate purchase order.
Reference the Purchase Form to determine which requested items are on hand and which need to be purchased. Allocate both on hand and purchased hardware to appropriate job.
Maintain accurate information on Purchase Forms as items are pulled from stock or as assigned POs are received
Prepare stage and deliver inventory kits for Fabrication
Perform periodic cycle counts of inventory on hand
Keep receiving and storage areas clean and organized. Area should be easily accessible and navigable for other employees.
Maintain sample stock level for Project Managers and Sales team
Other duties as assigned by Management team
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Demonstrated understanding of Inventory practices. Can train others to achieve a strong level of competence. Examples include Project material audits per project packaging etc.
Fluency in Inventory Control Systems (i.e. Software) and is able to train others as needed to achieve a strong level of competence. Examples include ERP Software custom spreadsheets etc.
Demonstrated understanding of how inventory control fits within and impacts the bigger operations schedule. Works with Leads/Supervisors to avoid bottlenecks has a clear understanding of how to recover from unforeseen developments and can adjust as needed without supervision.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues before they happen and correct them to avoid extra costs and time
Ability to successfully execute projects on tight deadlines and to perform at high levels in a fast paced and ever-changing work environment
Works well as a part of a team and as directed by more tenured team members
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in a purchasing and/or inventory role within a manufacturing environment required
Demonstrated knowledge of computer software such as spreadsheets business software etc. required
Ability to operate a forklift is preferred with Certification a plus
Knowledge of fractions decimals as well as standard and metric measurements required
Ability to use various measuring tools
Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
Ability to stand walk bend kneel stoop and crouch all day and frequently lift or move heavy objects

The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Due to our onsite Fabrication process the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job employees may be exposed to hot and/or cold conditions moving mechanical parts fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Adherence to company safety policies are mandatory.
