About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer you will take ownership of key systems powering Quizlets identity messaging and trust infrastructure. Youll design and implement scalable authentication consent and compliance solutions that ensure our millions of learners can connect safely and confidently. Youll collaborate closely across engineering security and product to embed privacy and reliability into our platform.
Were happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office with a minimum of three days per week onsite: Monday Wednesday and Thursday.
In this role you will
- Design and deliver backend services for authentication and account lifecycle management.
- Scale consent and messaging systems to meet new product and regulatory needs.
- Lead initiatives that enhance reliability observability and performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with security legal and marketing teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
What you bring to the table
- 5 years of backend or platform engineering experience in production systems.
- Strong experience with Go Python or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with OAuth2 SSO MFA and privacy frameworks (e.g. GDPR COPPA).
- Proven ability to deliver complex features end-to-end.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Total compensation for this role is market competitive including a starting base salary of $192500 - $231600 depending on location and experience as well as company stock options.
