Job Description:
The Budget Officer reporting to the Manager Strategic Initiatives supports the finance and accounting functions in the Academic Operations and Planning department. The primary function will be to support Applied Research Experiential Learning and Entrepreneurship and the other areas reporting to the Manager Strategic Initiatives.
The incumbent supports the decision making process for the department by proving the daily financial management and tracking including but not limited to tracking project expenditures opening all cost centres input of journal entries into Workday functioning as a expense officer supporting the accounts receivable/payable purchasing activities of the department monitors the Aged Receivable report tracks provides support for Capital Asset tracking and acts as support for the Senior Financial Analyst.
Assists the Financial Reporting and Operational Budgets by preparing the monthly/quarterly and year-end financial statements downloading all month-end reports to the shared point directory reconciliation of the monthly Applied Research Deferral entry and provides assistance with the CBC and yearly budget.
Reporting and Administrative tasks include assistance in the development of process/spreadsheets extracting information from college and protection of the integrity of theall departmental financial data.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum three (3) year Degree/Diploma in Business Finance or Accounting OR another discipline if combined with pursuit of professional accounting designation
Minimum three (3) years related experience in finance positions with increasing responsibilities in providing financial analytics to senior level administrators
Ability to maintain standards for efficiency and effectiveness
Advanced Excel spread sheet skills
Experience in Workday or a similar software
Experience in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable and Purchasing
Experience in working with projects and project management
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with College employees of all levels and outside clients.
