Location: Vancouver BC
Salary: $25 per hour 40 hours per week
Contract: 12 week contract- Summer 2026 (June 1st Start Date)
Reporting to: Engineering Resource Manager
Your role in the mission:
We are seeking a summer intern in Mechanical Engineering (Plasma Diagnostics) to apply your education and experience in the development of plasma diagnostics for a new fusion energy device.
The ideal candidate will have experience in CAD design Finite Element Analysis and thermo-mechanical effects. This role will require someone who can work with cross-functional teams to bring complex concepts to life.
- Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings in Siemens NX
- Design and develop CAD models for plasma diagnostics.
- Support mechanical design activities including concept generation layout and tolerance analysis
- Assist with mechanical assembly design tooling design and part integration efforts
- Contribute to design reviews and documentation to ensure accuracy and manufacturability
- Collaborate with engineers across disciplines (mechanical electrical systems) to support ongoing development projects.
What youll need:
- Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Hands-on experience with Siemens NX (Or similar CAD Software) for modeling and drafting
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and GD&T principles
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment
- Strong attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills
