The Safety Coordinator supports the daily operations of the organizations Safety Program and contributes to all agencywide safety initiatives. This role focuses on promoting safe driving practices coordinating vehicle maintenance compliance assisting with driver training and maintaining accurate safety records. The Safety Coordinator works closely with operations staff program directors and drivers to ensure all fleet safety policies and procedures are followed vehicles are maintained in accordance with Federal State and local regulations and broader organizational safety goals are supported across all programs.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:
Assist in implementing and maintaining safety policies procedures and standard operating practices.
Coordinate and schedule driver and employee safety training and maintain related documentation and attendance records.
Support the monitoring of vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure timely inspections repairs parking permits and documentation.
Track and report on vehicle usage incidents and safety metrics as assigned.
Conduct periodic reviews of pre-trip and post-trip inspection checklists to ensure compliance.
Provide assistance in reviewing driver applications MVRs and other related records for compliance with safety standards.
Assist in accident reporting follow-up investigations and maintain related files.
Generate reports from telematics or GPS systems on driver behavior such as speeding hard braking and other safety alerts.
Help coordinate corrective actions or retraining program managers as needed.
Maintain accurate OSHA 300 300A & 301 data related to fuel card usage fleet logs and safety records.
Perform administrative tasks such as taking detailed notes ordering materials maintaining organizing and creating safety documents and supporting safety campaigns initiatives and presentations.
Participate in Safety Committee meetings and share relevant updates and best practices.
Support rollout and monitoring fleet management and safety systems.
Support facilitation and coordination of agencys Safety Committee
Review safety related incident reports and work closely with the Director of Safety to identify resources propose solutions and monitor progress
Conduct safety assessments
Facilitate basic safety training
Perform other related duties within the scope of the role as assigned.
Minimum of 23 years of experience in fleet operations safety coordination or compliance preferred.
Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record required.
Previous experience working with Samba Safety and Motive platforms is a plus.preferred
Prior Osha experience preferred
Associates degreerequired
Working knowledge of fleet safety practices vehicle maintenance procedures and DOT regulations a plus.
Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills with attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook PowerPoint).
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
