GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Directs the work of contractors and employees with operational supervisory and fiscal responsibility.
  • Conducts health screenings including anthropometric and hematologic assessmentsand nutrition assessments to determine WIC eligibility.
  • Provides health referrals nutrition education breastfeeding education and breastfeeding promotion and support.
  • Prescribes and issues supplemental nutritious food packages.
  • Communicates with necessary parties regarding changing rules expectations and goals while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assuresthat the development of services and actual service delivery meet the needs of the participants and that areas of concern with service delivery are appropriately addressed.
  • Assesses community needs and conducts appropriate outreach.
  • Functions as a liaison from field offices to the Regional Nutrition Supervisor and State WIC Agency.
  • Offers provider and participant training and education public educationand resource development and the identification and implementation of best practices.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


A four-year degree is required in Nutrition Dietetics Nursing or Public Health Nutrition. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required for RNs. A Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is preferred for nutritionists. Our ideal candidate will also have at least 1 year of supervisory experience. Ability to read write and speak in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of grant writing grant administration management and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of program administration.
  • Knowledge of Wyoming state statutes.
  • Knowledge of marketing social marketing customer service group dynamics public relations advocacy and outreach strategies.
  • Understanding and ability to apply principles of maternal and child health and nutrition as well as breastfeeding support and education
  • Ability to supervise and motivate employees


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in Healthcare)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs)
OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs)
Certificates Licenses Registrations:
None

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Travel required.

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • The Wyoming Department of Health is anE-Verify employer.
  • A background check including the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
  • Immunizations: The successful applicant will be required to complete an Employee Health Assessment which includes verification of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases. If found to be non-immune vaccination will be required unless medically contraindicated. Yearly influenza vaccination is recommended but not required.
