Matix Lumber services all sectors of the building industry and offer a comprehensive selection of quality lumber and building materials manufactured by North Americas leading producers. We provide contractors avid builders DIYers and community leaders the tools construction service and design expertise to support residential and commercial projects from start to finish.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountantto join our finance team. TheFinancial Accountantwill play a crucial role in supporting the companysfinancial operations through accurate reporting budgeting and analysis while ensuring compliance with GAAP and driving process improvements.


The successful candidate will have duties such as but not limited to:

  • Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
  • Completing the monthly balance sheet income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses for multiple companies
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules.
  • Posting journal entries (with the approval of the Controller or Director of Finance)
  • Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditures
  • Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets
  • Investigating and resolving account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance
  • Creating a Standard Operating Procedure Manual for accounting policies regulations and reconciliation procedures
  • Creating and analyzing liability asset and capital accounts by compiling electronic data and required documentation.
  • Develop financial models to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to senior management to drive business performance.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial systems and processes to streamline operations.
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3 years of accounting experience supporting multiple departments.
  • 2 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (preferably in construction or manufacturing).
  • Working knowledge of: GAAP Tax laws Budgetary processes ERP implementation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Knowledge of BisTrack (ERP) and Great Plains (GP) systems (strong asset).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present findings to senior management.
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy supported by high-level critical and logical thinking analysis and reasoning.
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive mindset for process improvement and business growth.
  • Ability to provide excellent internal customer service and follow up on requests.
