About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager the Service Manager Gastroenterology and National Bowel Screening Programme will lead the strategic and operational delivery of these services across the district. This role provides leadership to ensure high-quality efficient and safe care within available resources while fostering collaboration between clinical operational and support teams. The Service Manager will oversee service performance financial and workforce planning quality and risk management and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the organisations vision values and commitment to equity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Gastroenterology and NBSP services to deliver safe effective and patient-focused care.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to achieve service and performance goals.
  • Manage budgets resource allocation and financial performance developing risk mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Oversee workforce planning recruitment development and performance management.
  • Drive service improvement innovation and system-wide integration of processes.
  • Support strategic planning and lead key service development projects.
  • Promote Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and equity in all aspects of service design and delivery.

You are an experienced and strategic leader with a proven ability to manage complex health services and deliver high-quality patient-centred outcomes. Confident in both people and operational leadership you bring strong financial acumen excellent communication skills and the ability to foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. You thrive in dynamic environments balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day management and are committed to continuous improvement innovation and equity in healthcare delivery.

Key Attributes and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health business or management (postgraduate desirable).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical or health service environment.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets resources and performance targets effectively.
  • Strong understanding of the New Zealand health and disability sector.
  • Skilled in relationship management and stakeholder engagement at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to implement practical sustainable solutions.
  • Committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes for Māori.
  • Adaptable accountable and motivated to lead teams through change and improvement.
